The Islamic Financial Services Board (IFSB) partnered with Bank Negara Malaysia as a Strategic Partner for the Global Forum of Islamic Economics and Finance (GFIEF) 2024. The forum, under the patronage of the Ministry of Finance Malaysia, was held on 28-29 May at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre (KLCC).
Ahead of the main event, IFSB organized two free-to-register side events on 27 May 2024 at Hall 7A, KLCC. The 22nd Islamic Financial Stability Forum, held from 9:00am to 1:00pm, focused on 'Stability and Resilience of the Islamic Financial Services Industry in an Evolving Risk Environment' and featured panel discussions by senior representatives from various central banks and financial institutions.
In the afternoon, a Knowledge Sharing Session from 2:00pm to 4:00pm explored the 'Growing Role of the Islamic Non-Bank Financial Sector in Advancing Financial Inclusion.' This session discussed scaling microfinance initiatives, developing innovative financial products, and navigating regulatory reforms to enhance the capacity of non-banking financial institutions, with insights from Datuk Professor Dr. Mohamad Akram Laldin of the Shari’ah Advisory Council, Bank Negara Malaysia.
